Why am I best placed to help you? Here's a bit about me...
I have supported parents and their little ones for 30 years and I have two children myself… so I have been there.
This course draws on nearly 20 years experience as a Certified Infant Massage Instructor. I qualified in 2006 while working as a Health Visitor in London. I had seen how Baby Massage was used in Neonatal Units and heard about benefits for Postnatal Depression so was keen to be able to offer this. During my training, I was absolutely blown away by the many benefits Baby Massage gives not only the baby but the person giving the Massage too. Since then, I have been privileged to witness how it has taken parents from being tearful, exhausted, overwhelmed and struggling to calm, smiling, confident. Ensuring they enjoy being with their baby.
Being a Mummy of two myself saw how the many ways it helped me and my babies. As they have grown older, having established comfort and communication through touch has been invaluable as we ride the different stages and phases of childhood, and now teens. Being familiar with the stroke of a hand, rub of the back, a hand or foot massage has helped so much to keep a strong connection even with the mood swings and teenage angst.
I’ve wanted to look after babies for as long as I can remember. My dream was fulfilled when I trained as a Paediatric Nurse at Great Ormond Street Hospital. I later moved to Paediatric A&E, where I still work. I have had various Nursing roles and as a Health Visitor in the community & hospital. I am also an Infant Massage Instructor and am passionate about the lifelong benefits Baby Massage can bring.
Parents are under pressure like never before. Juggling their new role alongside their partner, family, friends, work and being bombarded with expectations from social media and society. As a Health Visitor and Paediatric Nurse I have endless stories about how Baby Massage has helped both parents and babies’ emotional, metal and physical wellbeing. Renowned for helping new parents who are feeling low, overwhelmed and with postnatal depression. As well as amazing stories of how the strokes have helped physically. Including how parents have been so happy their baby has done a big poo after being uncomfortable!
In 2006, while working in London, I recognised the need for a relaxed, friendly service addressing common parental concerns. Baby Steps was born offering courses to parents in their home in First Aid, Weaning & Baby Massage & Relaxation. After running Baby Steps in London for 13 years, we moved to Hampshire. Here I have a beautiful studio in the woods which is a calm cocoon for new parents and babies, as well as courses in your home and online.
My mission is “To give reassurance and confidence to parents and babies everyday”. I have had the privilege to care for the most amazing families. I feel I have the best job in the world & the testimonies I receive make my heart sing!
I am Mummy to Isabella and William. Being a parent has exceeded all I could have wished for but I know how hard it can be. I’ve been there and can’t wait to support you.
