Can home courses be for more than 6 people?
Yes absolutely! Pricing is adjusted for groups of larger than 6, as the trainer will allow more time for questions (and practice if Resuscitation or Baby Massage) and will also be bringing more equipment.
How much space is required for the home courses?
In the Resuscitation course we require enough space to practice on the floor with the manikins. For Baby Massage, there needs to be enough room for parents to sit on the floor with their baby on a changing mat in front of them. Usually moving a coffee table will be enough to accommodate these groups.
For the Illness & Accidents and Weaning courses it’s just a case of making sure there is enough space for everyone to sit comfortably. It’s usually best to chat to the Baby Steps team about any queries you may have regards space and group size.
What child ages and stages are courses aimed at?
The First Aid courses are beneficial for parents or anyone looking after children from birth and throughout early childhood. Many parents-to-be decide to do them ante natally to be prepared and while they have their hands free!
Please see the Baby Massage and Weaning to Solids pages for age specific advice.
Can First Aid courses be combined?
Our First Aid courses follow a tried and tested method to ensure they are as worthwhile and beneficial as possible. Covering the most useful and requested First Aid topics, the two distinct courses ensure parents and carers feel prepared. To condense them into less time would mean missing out valuable and essential information. While it is ideal to undertake both courses, you can just do one if you prefer.
Many groups decide to run both courses on the same day with a nice lunch break in between making it a more social occasion! Or of course you may prefer separate days. We have found parents (and certainly babies if they are joining in!) reach ‘information overload’ after 2 hours and we want to ensure the courses are enjoyable while being as informative as possible.
Other venues?
Since starting in 2006 our Baby Steps courses have been held in a range of different venues including pubs, golf clubs, members clubs, church halls and gardens. We are able to come to any venue that suits you.
Are babies and children able to come along to the courses?
Babies and children are so welcome at our courses! We understand you may not want to leave your baby or you may have difficulty with childcare, so we want to make it as easy as possible. If you prefer to come along without your child, of course that is fine too.
