Baby Massage

Baby Steps offers Baby Massage courses with the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM).  You and your baby can enjoy the many benefits in the comfort and convenience of your own home.  Baby Massage is suitable from birth to crawling.

Baby Massage Courses
Classes can be one to one or in a group.
The Baby Steps Baby Massage course consists of 3 sessions and takes place at home to offer flexibility and convenience.  The many benefits of Baby Massage for both the baby and parent or carer are well known.  These include aiding colic, wind, teething pains, constipation, relaxation and sleep as well as important bonding with your baby.

Classes are approximately one hour each and can be arranged at a time to suit you. The course includes a ‘Goody bag’ with massage oil, a relaxation CD and full details of all the strokes covered in the course with easy to use laminated handouts. A certificate is provided for you and your baby as a keep sake.

Alternatively, if you’ll struggle to find the time for 3 sessions you may like to have a single one to one session.  This will cover all the strokes, and includes our fabulous ‘Goody bag’.

International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM)

The International Association of Infant massage (IAIM) was founded in the 1970s by Vimila McClure who had seen the many benefits of Infant Massage in India.  The programme is used in 46 countries and 14 languages. A waterproof changing mat
A towel
A cushion for yourself. 

Baby-Steps focuses on developing parents’ confidence and reducing anxiety. Katherine Whitby, founder of ‘Baby-Steps’ is a Paediatric Nurse and Health Visitor. She has extensive experience in answering parents’ questions about all aspects of child development and offering practical support and advice.  She has over 10 years experience caring for sick children at Great Ormond Street Hospital, the Cromwell Hospital and in Chelsea and Westminster’s Accident & Emergency dept. As a Health Visitor, Katherine runs Well Baby Clinics, Post Natal groups and visits families at home.

Childhood Illnesses & Accidents - Covering First Aid and the initial steps to follow in an range of emergency situations – if a child became suddenly unwell, was injured, ingested a poisonous substance, had a fit, Meningitis, head injuries.  As well as tips to help you feel more confident in caring for your child when they have minor illness. Including what to have in your medicine cabinet, recognising signs and symptoms, where and when to seek medical advice. Useful handouts are given of the information covered.

Baby Resuscitation - Learn what to do if your baby stopped breathing or was choking. Practice on manikins.  There will be plenty of time to ask questions and practice, giving you confidence and reassurance. A must for parents – ante or post natal or anyone looking after children. Easy to use handouts are given at the end of the session
